With years of experience in designing and assembling complete sets of generator sets

What should be done to generate heat during the operation of diesel generator sets?

Time:2023-05-31

The phenomenon of sudden heating of diesel generator sets during operation usually occurs when the parts are suddenly damaged. Sudden damage to the mechanism will stop the pressure circulation of the coolant or cause a large amount of water leakage, resulting in sudden overheating, or a malfunction of the temperature testing system.

The reasons for generator overheating include:

1. Temperature sensor malfunction, water temperature too high.

2. The water temperature gauge is malfunctioning and the water temperature is too high.

3. The water pump suddenly damaged and the coolant stopped circulating.

4. The fan belt is broken or the belt tension bracket is loose.

5. The fan belt is broken or damaged.

6. Severe leakage in the cooling system

7. The radiator is clogged with ice.

Diagnosis and treatment methods for generator overheating:

1. Firstly, observe whether there is a large amount of water leakage outside the engine. For example, if there is any leakage in the drain switch, water pipe joint, water tank, etc., it should be dealt with in a timely manner.

2. Observe if the belt is broken. If the belt is broken, it should be replaced in a timely manner and the belt should be tightened.

3. Check if the water temperature sensor and water temperature gauge are damaged, and replace them in a timely manner.

4. Check if the engine and radiator exhaust pipes are blocked.

5. If there is no water leakage in the engine and the belt transmission is normal, check the coolant circulation pressure.

6. Radiator icing usually occurs after cold start or when the generator set is shut down in cold seasons. If the speed is too high after starting, the forced fan will run, and the radiator that has just been cooled will freeze at the bottom. After the engine temperature rises, the coolant cannot circulate extensively, leading to overheating or accelerated boiling. At this point, measures should be taken to maintain the normal temperature of the radiator, reduce the exhaust volume of the fan, or heat the frozen part of the radiator to quickly dissolve the ice. When the radiator freezes on the long slope of the car, immediately stop and idle the car to warm up.

Precautions during use: Park in a windy or shaded area, open the hood, keep the engine idling, gradually reduce the temperature, and strictly prohibit immediate shutdown. If the engine is difficult to start after stalling, try to rotate the crankshaft slowly to prevent the piston from sticking to the cylinder wall at high temperatures. During the cooling process, do not immediately open the radiator cap or expansion tank cap. Pay attention to safety when opening the lid to prevent burns from hot water or steam. If there is excessive water consumption, an appropriate amount of soft water should be replenished in a timely manner.
